Gatheryn was to be the 1st steampunk-specific massively multiplayer online role playing game (MMORPG), and was planned to include a series of mini-games, quests, social interaction options, and a variety of other unspecified steampunk-based activities. Its creator, Mindfuse Games, claimed that would contain “the 50 most popular casual games of all time,” and that the game was developed specifically to forgo the usual monotonous grinding often found in MMORPGs, in favor of simply buying equipment and costumes using the in-game currency earned from playing their casual games, or purchased with real money. However, the game ran out of funding and was shut down before its release in 2010.
